The Field Service Manager is responsible for the overall field service department operations. This role requires leadership, managing, training, and evaluating field service team members. Must be highly self-motivated with excellent customer service and both oral and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES - include but are not limited to:

  • Oversees all operations within the department
  • Organizing and coordinating field service activities
  • Ensure that the service and inspection program is organized
  • Assess the Service Technicians needs and be sure they are given the tools needed to perform their job
  • Oversee the data entry on all service work, review and verify for accuracy and completeness and make sure that jobs are closed in a timely manner
  • Work with the parts and purchasing department to ensure truck inventories are kept at acceptable levels
  • Establish and maintain electronic and hard copy files and filing systems, set up and maintain service reports, records and schedules as needed
  • Ensure that time cards for the Technicians are entered and billed to jobs accurately
  • Solid understanding of P&L management to ensure business plans are achieved
  • Builds work relationships with staff to maintain a high level of customer service and support in a positive team-oriented branch environment
  • Promote an encouraging and safe work place and adheres to company policy and procedure including compliance with State, Federal, OSHA and D.O.T regulations
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels within the department and provides continuous coaching, training, support and performance feedback
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of market trends and condition


  • Supervisory and/or management experience required.
  • Must be self-driven, team builder and highly motivated
  • Ability to analyze and use operational information to create positive actions and results
  • A minimum of 5+ years equipment management experience within a heavy equipment dealership with increasing job scope and responsibility
  • Knowledgeable in heavy construction equipment and field service operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Reliable and strong work ethic
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Superior leadership, communication and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task a must
